Our thin solid mirror reaches thermal equilibrium much faster than a traditional thick solid mirror, delivering great views even as temperatures change. No fan needed — eliminating micro-vibration that degrades image quality.
96% enhanced reflective coatings on both primary and secondary mirrors with precision-controlled dielectric layers. Maximum light throughput for bright, contrast-rich images on deep-sky targets.
Optimized 6-point flotation system with completely independent sling lateral support and collimation (with two convenient front-access collimation screws). Eliminates the potato-chip astigmatism found in simpler designs.
CNC-machined 6063-T6 aluminum alloy double-section truss tubes, solid CNC aluminum cell and structure. Finished with environmentally friendly black powder coating. Designed for maximum rigidity at minimum weight.

The UP12 folds and packs into airline-approved luggage weighing less than 50 lbs. Take serious aperture to the darkest skies on the planet, wherever that may be.
A full 12-inch diameter optical surface (12.4" overall) — not a beveled 12" blank like competitors. That means about 5% more light-gathering power than any other 12" scope on the market.
The perfect balance between large light-gathering capability and unbeatable portability. It will be the telescope that gets taken out frequently, providing stunning views and a lifetime of observing enjoyment.
With the UP12, most NGC objects can be found from a dark sky site. Reveal hints of color in bright emission nebulae like the Orion Nebula, incredible detail on Jupiter, and with an H-beta filter, a distinct Horsehead Nebula. The UP12 is a telescope that provides a lifetime of satisfying observing experiences.
